Does ChatGPT cite your brand?
A free AI visibility checker. Type a question your buyers ask, add your domain, and see which sites ChatGPT search and Perplexity cite in their answer, live, engine by engine.
ChatGPT search
Perplexity
How does the AI visibility checker work?
It sends your question to ChatGPT search (OpenAI's model with live web search) and to Perplexity at the same moment, then lists every domain each engine cited in its answer. If you add your domain, it checks whether you are on either list.
- Questions run exactly as typed, with no brand name added, so the result shows what a buyer would see.
- Each engine is shown separately, because they rarely trust the same pages.
- Subdomains count: shop.yourbrand.com is matched to yourbrand.com.
- Identical questions are cached for 24 hours to keep the tool free.
How should you read the result?
One check is one question at one moment. AI answers vary between runs, so treat a single result as a signal, not a verdict. The useful part is the list of who is cited instead of you: those pages show what the engine trusts for that question.
Run the questions that are closest to a purchase first: "best X for Y", "is X worth it", "X vs Y". In our study of 50 health and supplement questions, ChatGPT search and Perplexity shared no source at all on 20 of them, and brand sites made up only 11% of 537 citations. Most brands are missing from most answers. The checker shows you where.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check if ChatGPT mentions my brand?
Type a question your buyers would ask, the way they would ask it, and add your domain. The checker sends the question to ChatGPT search and Perplexity live and lists every domain each engine cited. If your domain is among them, it is flagged.
Is the AI visibility checker free?
Yes. It runs three checks a day per visitor at no cost and needs no sign-up. For a full map across dozens of buyer questions, request the AI visibility audit.
Why do ChatGPT and Perplexity cite different sources?
Each engine runs its own search and keeps its own short list of trusted pages. In our study of 50 health and supplement questions, ChatGPT search and Perplexity shared no source at all on 20 of them. That is why the checker shows each engine separately.
Will I get the same result if I run the check again?
Not always. AI answers vary from run to run and change as the engines re-crawl the web. One check is a snapshot of one question at one moment. Identical questions are cached for 24 hours, so a repeat within a day shows the earlier result.
What should I do if my brand is not cited?
Look at who is cited instead. Those pages show what the engine trusts for that question: usually a direct answer, evidence it can quote, and a brand it can resolve to one identity. Closing that gap is the work of AI SEO, also called generative engine optimization (GEO). How AI chooses its sources explains the mechanics.
